SCF Holds Grantee Reception
Ellettsville, Indiana (November 29, 2016) – The Smithville Charitable Foundation (SCF) was delighted to hold its first annual Grantee Reception in Ellettsville this morning. This year’s grantees were invited to network with each other over refreshments before Interim Director Marissa Nielsen shared a brief presentation about the mission and direction of the SCF. SCF Board Governors listened for the directions and upcoming needs grantees saw in their near future. Grantees were invited to tour the SCF House following the reception.
The SCF granted $1,044,875.17 to 65 nonprofit organizations in 14 counties in Central and Southern Indiana this fall including Boone, Brown, Daviess, Dubois, Greene, Hendricks, Howard, Lawrence, Monroe, Morgan, Orange, Owen, Sullivan, and Tipton. The Smithville Charitable Foundation awards grants each fall through a competitive application and review process. The Smithville Charitable Foundation is a private organization, officially formed in October 2007, which began granting in 2008. As a private foundation, grants benefit organizations in the counties served by Smithville Communications – Boone, Brown, Daviess, Dubois, Gibson, Greene, Hendricks, Howard, Lawrence, Martin, Monroe, Morgan, Orange, Owen, Posey, Sullivan, and Tipton counties in Indiana. The SCF supports community foundations in these counties and a variety of causes related to religion, education, health, relief of poverty or distress, and various public organizations.
